Owner decides to sell popular restaurant
After two years of putting in her "heart and soul", HMS Kings Restaurant owner Julie Guise is selling the business.
Guise, who also owns The Pavillion in Colac Bay, said she bought HMS Kings two years ago because it was a Southland "icon".
She was selling because she could not keep up with running two businesses that were so far apart, she said.
HMS Kings had been running for about 70 years and attracted customers from across the country.
Guise said she had loved owning the restaurant, and it was sad having to close it.
"There is nothing as unique in Southland as Kings. It has a fabulous history and is waiting for the right person to come along and retain its legendary reputation."
There were a few people interested in buying, she said.
