The manufacturing sector in Southland and Otago has returned to expansion after a sharp dip in January, figures released today show.
The latest BusinessNZ Performance of Manufacturing Index shows the February PMI for Otago/Southland was 57.2.
A figure above 50 represents expansion while below 50 represents contraction.
The regions' January PMI was 48.1.
Nationally, the PMI for February was 56.3, up 1.1 points from January and the highest result since February last year, while elsewhere in the country, figures also rose.
