Expo expands on range of goods up for grabs
This year's Rices Powerstore Expo in Invercargill is expected to be bigger and better than ever, with an array of new products introduced to the sales extravaganza.
Smiths City has joined the retailers selling goods at the annual sale and the likes of furniture, barbecues, and sports gear would be for grabs at reduced prices, along with the usual technological devices.
Rices Powerstore Invercargill manager Jamie Briggs said the sale was now too big for its home of 30 years, the Ascot Park Hotel.
Instead, the expo will be at the Velodrome.
Mr Briggs said he did not yet know what kind of deals would be on offer but he believed the biggest sellers this year would be smartphones and tablets.
Also back on sale this year are lawnmowers. "People have been wanting us to bring these back [to the expo] for years," he said.
As for tips and tricks for those wanting the best deals this year, Mr Briggs said shoppers should queue early, as it was "first in, first served".
Craig Balfour, one of the organisers of the expo, said there would be daily prizes on offer.
Teaming up with Smiths City meant the expo was able to offer a wider range of products, he said.
The expo starts on September 6 and runs for three days.
