A Riversdale service station has proved that with some effort and a can-do attitude a lot can be achieved.
Challenge Riversdale has been named Farmlands Challenge Retailer of the Year and awarded the D R Britton Southern Retailer of the Year.
The service station, owned and operated by Jo and Richard Clarkson, has undergone a new paint job and had its signage updated as part of the company's plan to have all service stations looking the same.
Mrs Clarkson said they were happy with the award as they had done a lot of work to the building.
The top accolade is awarded annually and judged out of all the Challenge businesses across the country.
''We had a pretty big re-fresh, so it was great to win,'' Mrs Clarkson said.
The couple had owned the service station for more than three years and had a workshop out the back with four mechanics on staff.
Challenge Riversdale was described by judges as the deserving winner for excelling in business skills and delivering the Kiwi can-do attitude.
