The prequalification process for the new $13 million Invercargill Airport terminal was completed last month and the project is now out for tender.
The construction contract for the terminal redevelopment includes demolition of the existing building, construction of the new terminal building and a temporary baggage reclaim enclosure inside the main complex.
Invercargill Airport chairman Joe O'Connell said it was hoped construction would be completed by Christmas next year.
The new terminal will be a 2900-square- metre single-level building and will be constructed in three stages.
Tenders will close next month.
