First time sale for high-country farm

Bendrose Station, a large pastoral property near Twizel is for sale for the first time in its 94-year history.

Owned by the Allan family, Bendrose covers 3580 hectares of partially irrigated flat land.

PGG Wrightson Real Estate agent Richard Scott, of Timaru, said that as well as the 140ha across 21 paddocks already in irrigation, the farm had consents in process to water another 488ha from the Pukaki canal.

"Although Bendrose is a traditional high-country station, it is flat throughout and has 140 hectares already under centre pivots and k-line, with the potential for much more extensive irrigation.

"Historically part of Ben Ohau Station, which was originally settled in 1857 and covered over 30,000 hectares, freehold in Bendrose Station was created via a tenure review process completed in 2011, meaning this is the first time the property has ever been offered to the market."

The station is next to Pukaki Airport and the Ocean to Alps cycle trail. It is for sale by tender.
