Classic rockers booked for Gibbston gig
Gibbston is flashing back to the era of classic rock with a stellar multi-platinum line-up for the annual summer gig.
Rock 'n rollers Foreigner, Heart and Three Dog Night will blast out the hits in Queenstown in January as part of a New Zealand tour. At the last concert, fans went wild for Lynyrd Skynyrd, Starship and 10cc.
Greenstone Entertainment has been running the Gibbston Valley Winery summer concert for five years and chief executive Amanda Calvert said the tour was the first time Foreigner and Heart will have played together on tour in New Zealand.
"These three legendary artists together bring a huge song list and will have everyone rocking throughout the day. The setting is like no other and the show is always a fantastic finale to the tour." Heart, with siblings Ann and Nancy Wilson, have been rocking since the 70s with hits including Crazy on You, Magic Man and Barracuda. In the 80s and 90s they penned hits like These Dreams, Alone and What about Love?
Foreigner, led by Mick Jones, are one of the most popular rock bands in the world and have sold more than 75 million albums, including 10 multi-platinum albums and sixteen Top 30 hits. The band's anthems include global hit I Want to Know What Love Is and other classics, Juke Box Hero, Feels like the First Time and Cold as Ice. Three Dog Night, with 50 million album sales, have had 21 Top 40 hits including Mama Told Me (Not To Come), Black and White and Joy To The World.
Two other gigs are scheduled, on January 24 in Taupo and January 25 at Whitianga Waterways. Tickets go on sale on July 7.
