TRIBUTE TO GOD OF SPEED: Three of Burt Munro's children, John Munro, Gwen Henderson and Margaret Popenhagen, hold a copy of Roger Donaldson's long-awaited book The World's Fastest Indian.

Roger Donaldson's book honouring Burt Munro was launched at the official opening of the Burt Munro Challenge last night.

The book, which chronicles Munro's achievements and documents his experiences leading up to those achievements, was launched at a function at the Ascot Park Hotel, in Invercargill, which was attended by  several hundred people.

It goes on sale to the public today and is available at Paper Plus and E Hayes and Sons.
