Organisers of the Arrowtown 150th celebrations are on the hunt for more Chinese actors to play small roles in a planned Chinese Village Theatre later this month.

Co-ordinator Julie Hughes, of Arrow Events, said she hoped some Chinese residents from Southland or Otago would come forward to assist as the acting roles were not big and involved only a three-minute script. "We will provide assistance with accommodation and meals and a performance fee to assist with helping to put on the Chinese Village Theatre."

The idea was to showcase a working village and tell the stories of the miners who made Arrowtown their home. There was a range of roles and scripts could be learnt with directions over the phone or a couple of rehearsals.

Scripts were written by Kate Blackhurst and the show will be directed by Tiffany Menzies. The show runs on October 20.
