The Hokonui Moonshiners' Festival will stay in the Gore heritage precinct this year after a proposed new venue was double booked.
The festival was to have moved to the Southern Field Days site because of its larger size, but the site has been double booked for the Young Farmer of the Year Otago-Southland regional final.
Festival committee spokesman Jim Geddes said the decision was made to keep the festival in the heritage precinct this year rather than share the field days site.
''We were not satisfied that we could take the festival to the next level and fulfil our expectations, as well as those of festival goers, beside another distinctly different event,'' he said.
The festival would still be held on March 23.
Top New Zealand performers Opshop and Annah Mac will headline the event, with tickets going on sale on Friday.
Tickets cost $45 if bought online through iticket.co.nz. Limited gate sales, at an increased ticket price, may be available.
