Dancer needs a new partner
Vincent McIvor is on the hunt for his perfect woman, preferably one that likes dancing.
McIvor, 18, is a ballroom dancer and he's looking for a new dancing partner, but they seem to be scarce in Southland.
The talented dancer is ranked 4th in New Zealand for his grade and hopes to continue to improve, but that's pretty hard to do without someone to dance with.
While McIvor admits it is often the other way round in dancing world - with fewer men than woman taking up the hobby - he said he had ran out of options for a partner in Invercargill, and in his age range.
So he's holding auditions at Rachel's Dance Studio in Gore next Wednesday to find the perfect woman.
His criteria is fairly simple. The woman has to be between 15 and 25 years old and have an interest in dancing, though they do not need experience. Commitment is the biggest attribute he is seeking.
He isn't just a ballroom champion because the teenager also dances latin style routines.
He laughs about the situation being a bit like Dancing with the Stars, but said it was not quite like the television programme.
The Invercargill man has been dancing for the past seven years, first taking to the stage when he was only 11.
He has had several dance partners over the years, with many quitting because they were short of time, or no longer had the passion for dancing.
He was not asking the potential partner to give up too much time, just one dancing session a week at Rachel's Studio in Gore and the occasional weekend for competitions.
