Invercargill audiences will be treated to a performance by one of the world's foremost Beethoven pianists tonight.
New Zealand pianist Michael Houstoun will perform five sonatas by German composer Ludwig van Beethoven, including his Sonata in F minor, Op. 57, famously known as Appassionata, at the Civic Theatre tonight.
Houstoun, made a companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2012, has been labelled by Chamber Music New Zealand as one of the "great Beethoven pianists of our age".
The Chamber Music New Zealand performance is part of a nationwide tour, staged to celebrate Houstoun's 60th birthday. Beethoven reCycle, performed by Michael Houston, begins at 7.30pm at the Civic Theatre. Tickets cost $45.
