Actors for Fifty Shades of Grey film named
Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam will star in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
After fierce competition and speculation, it's been confirmed model-turned actress Johnson, 23, will play Anastasia Steele in the big budget adaptation of E.L. James' bestselling book. British actor Charlie Hunnam, 33, has been cast as Christian Grey.
"I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey," E.L. James announced on Twitter, following it up with: "The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey."
The story focuses on the relationship between Christian, a rich industrialist with a dark past, and Anastasia, a young student who becomes involved in an S&M relationship with him.
Ever since Universal bought the rights to the books in March 2012, there has been endless speculation over who would win the much-coveted leads.
Elizabeth Olsen, Emma Watson and Mila Kunis were all rumoured to be after the part of Anastasia, while Robert Pattinson, Michael Fassbender and Ian Somerhalder were rumoured to be in the running for Christian.
The film will be released by Focus Features on August 1 2014 and is being directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and E.L. James will be producing.
Social Network star Johnson is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, while Hunnam is known for playing Jax Teller in hit US show Sons of Anarchy.
