Invercargill's 2013 Gold Guitar Awards winners Cheryl Anderson (senior) and Beth Walker (junior) are having a wee party to help get them to Tamworth in January and you're invited.
The two singers completed a rare double for Invercargill at the country music awards in Gore at Queen's Birthday Weekend when they brought home the senior and junior overall trophies, earning them the right to represent Southland and New Zealand at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in New South Wales in January.
To help them pay their way they'll join together with a band of fellow Southland singers and musicians to have an old-fashioned hall party at Invercargill's Scottish Hall tomorrow night.
Classic rock with a twist of country rock is on the playlist as city party band 'bin-jammin', who regularly support charity events, get into their work.
Anderson and Walker will perform on the night, as well as Beth's mum Bonnie Turner, herself a former Gold Guitars section winner, Invercargill's Mr X-Factor Bryan Townley, who won the same trophy as Anderson in 2000, and Townley's daughter Maggie.
All profits go towards Anderson and Walker's Tamworth travel and accommodation costs.
A good feed of roast lamb donated by Alliance Group will be served at supper time, in between plenty of classic rock tunes from the 60s, 70s and beyond.
Tickets $25, including supper, BYO, no door sales, available from Kelvin Hotel reception, Invercargill City Council booking office and Trevor Daley Music Works.
