Three Gore girls are ready to sing and play their hearts out as they head to Tamworth to join up with their band Southern Kin for the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Jenny Mitchell, Vanessa Harvey and Michaela Roy departed for the two-week Tamworth experience yesterday. They will perform at the Tamworth Hotel as well as take part in some of the other events the festival had to offer.

Jenny said the band getting the gig at the hotel came from them being in the right place at the right time.

This is the second year the girls would be attending the festival after many long hours of fundraising in order to attend last year.

The band would return to Tamworth's Main St for the busking competition which has between 600 and 700 competitors vying for a spot in the top 10.

"We are doing the New Zealand showcase as well, which will be fun," Michaela said.

"The atmosphere is amazing, we are really looking forward to it," Jenny said.
