Chinese acrobats are enthralling Alexandra crowds with a colourful, cheeky, complicated array of mesmerising and magical acts.
The Zirka Circus was in town yesterday and will be performing today and over the weekend before heading south.
Spokeswoman Jan Burnell said the acrobats, aged between 13 and 21, came from all over China and had studied at a respected circus school in Beijing. The Zirka Circus had been touring New Zealand for four years.
"They have their own education system on tour and their own cook who cooks traditional Chinese food for them. They do one or two tours with the circus then go back to China to learn some new things."
The circus was next travelling to Gore, Winton and Invercargill.
