From Balclutha to Niagara Falls to Invercargill to Lake Hauroko, from Ocean Beach to Ocean Beach, this book is full of interesting facts, history and directions on main routes, less well-known roads, and railways.

You haven't seen New Zealand until you've travelled off the beaten track. And Way to Go: A travel guide to New Zealand's Highways, Byways and Railways shows you how to get there and what to look for.

Did you know the Bluff Hill lookout is the southernmost point at Bluff, not Stirling Point? That the tallest lighthouse in New Zealand is on Dog Island? That Slope Point is the southernmost location in the South Island (it's 5km further south than Stirling Point). Or that not only is there a famous signpost at Stirling Point but there's a matching one at Cape Reinga, in the far north of the North Island?

This is a great guide from which to plan your travels, and to keep in the car or take on the train when your journey has begun.

I would have liked more pictures, but maybe that's one of the points of the book: have a look for yourself.

Happy travels.
