Katie Holmes' former co-star Jeremy Strong "is showing her the ropes."

The recent divorcee was seen out and about in New York City with her The Romantics castmate last weekend.

Apparently Strong was giving Katie the scoop on some amazing places to visit in the Big Apple.

The pair also watched Jake Gyllenhaal give an awesome performance in off-Broadway hit production of If You Haven't Found It Yet.

"They're totally just friends and have been since The Romantics," a source told Us Weekly.

"He's very plugged in to the New York theatre scene and is showing her the ropes."

As part of the terms of her divorce from actor Tom Cruise, Holmes got primary custody of their six-year-old daughter Suri.

Holmes is reportedly most concerned with her child's welfare at the moment.

"She's not dating nor is she interested in dating yet," the source said.

"She's just getting her life together and focusing on her daughter."
