Army food bank gets a Turbo boost
In the South
The Wattie's Cans Film Festival to help Southlanders in need is being held for the 20th time.
One theatre at Invercargill Reading Cinemas will show the movie Turbo this year, with 139 seats up for grabs.
From Wednesday, Southlanders can head to the cinema and swap a can for a movie ticket, and on November 13 they can return to the cinema to watch Turbo.
Turbo is a high-velocity comedy about an underdog snail who is granted an unexpected wish and miraculously gains the power of super-speed.
Wattie's will match the number of cans donated, which will boost the Salvation Army food bank stock before the pre-Christmas demand.
Invercargill Salvation Army captain Annette Bray said it was great to stock up before Christmas and to have such a well recognised brand behind it to help those less fortunate, she said.
The Wattie's Cans Film Festival is held annually nationwide.
