The Makarewa Hall is to be demolished after a newly-formed committee unanimously voted to be rid of it.

Committee member Paul Hamilton said the chairman of the new committee was working with Makarewa School to organise the demolition.

The committee was formed and demolition decided upon at a recent meeting where Mr Hamilton had asked residents to come and discuss the future of the hall.

The committee would then look at other options to replace the hall, Mr Hamilton said.
