Brian Dickson, of Waikaka, and his dog Nike have trouble yarding belligerent perendale ewes during the Mararoa Sheep Dog Trial Club's 75th annual trial at Burwood Station at the weekend.

The pair, who eventually managed to yard the troublesome sheep, were among a sizeable group taking part in the event.

Club president Matt Macdonald said the two-day event went well with about 30 dogs entering each of the four events.
