A vehicle belonging to missing Clyde man Mark George Naylor has been found at the Blue Lake at St Bathans in Central Otago, police say.

Naylor's vehicle, a blue and grey Isuzu Bighorn, appears to have been at the lake since Saturday evening, police said.

A ground and lake search is being conducted by an eight-person search and rescue squad including police and coastguard. Family and friends of the missing man were also on site helping with shoreline searches.

Victim Support was helping the family.

"As time passes naturally our concern for the wellbeing of Mr Naylor increases," Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk said.

The weather was fine, and the lake calm, but there were extreme frosts in the area over recent days, which raised concerns for his safety, he said.

The Clyde man, 32, was last seen at home on Saturday about 5pm. He was wearing a blue Swandri jersey. He is 178cm tall, of stocky build with a beard.
