Auckland agricultural equipment manufacturer Tru-Test has bought milk storage and cooling systems provider Dairy Technology Services for an undisclosed sum.

Tru-Test bought the firm from NDA, a Hamilton-based stainless steel engineering company focused on dairy processing and transport, chemicals and refining, wine and resources industries.

The deal follows Tru-Test’s December purchase of Radian Technologies, which developed a dairy automation and herd management system called MilkHub.

Tru-Test Group chief executive Greg Muir said the Dairy Technology Services (DTS) acquisition was part of a strategy to improve integrated support for dairy farmers.

‘‘The dairy industry will increasingly need to integrate new technologies and services if it is to achieve the sort of sustainable growth it seeks. Having both DTS and MilkHub within Tru-Test Group is an example of this sort of integration in practice.’’ NDA chief executive Mark Eglinton said the sale was a positive step for it and Tru-Test.

‘‘We believe DTS is a natural fit for Tru-Test and the sale gives NDA greater capacity to deliver our growth strategies for our core engineering business in New Zealand, Australia and North America.’’

DTS has 80 staff in Taranaki and Hamilton.
