The Diary of Jackie Simms takes readers back to the late 1970s and reveals the trials Jackie had, specially how she felt about Davey and her grief when he was killed in the Mt Erebus air crash.
As a teenager, it is easy to relate to many feelings Jackie had. This story helps explain to those of us who were not alive in the 1970s how much of a tragedy the Mt Erebus crash was and how devastated it left New Zealand.
As November 28 marks the 30th anniversary of New Zealand's worst air disaster, this book is a good way to remember an important time in the country's history. What's even better is that it's a good read.
