In case you missed the memo: 80s beauty is back.
While the decade did include the odd beauty blunder (perms for one) there are a few key looks that are making a stylish comeback.
Big bodacious hair, bushy brows and bespoke bobs are just the beginning of everything old becoming new again.
The 80s coral lip and cheek pairing is back but this time around it’s a lot more subtle. Instead of severe slashes of orange blush worn high on the cheekbones, the new look is subtle and well contoured. Dark brows with platinum hair? You betcha. Madonna may have kicked it off in the 80s but Miley Cyrus and Rita Ora have ensured that the Material Girl’s beauty legacy lives on.
If you were a cool girl in the 80s you wore blue eyeshadow and lots of it.
Thanks to the likes of Kenzo, Prada and Christian Dior recently sending models down the runway sporting high-impact blue hues on their eyes, this look is also back. Whether it’s a flash of neon blue on the lower lash line or bold blocks of cool colour swept across the lids, it’s high-time to feel a little blue.
The 80s was an era of big hair so it’s no surprise the go-big-or-go-home look is back. Without the help of an 80s spiral perm, you’ll need to arm yourself with a few fab volumising products and get ready to start back-combing. Pink and purple hair is also getting a punk-inspired 80s makeover with the addition of shaved sides – thanks go to Rihanna for leading the charge.
Of course who could forget those big bushy Brooke Shields brows? Top model Cara Delevigne sure hasn’t, and that’s one of the reasons they’re back.
