Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE MIXED: First things first, Bella Thorne may just possess the prettiest hair colour that has ever walked this earth. Secondly, call me a prude but I find the illusion mesh plunge just a little too plungey on this Candies dress, especially for a 16-year-old. Without such a deep plunge this would just be a fun, girly dress ... so please, let's all take a stand and start boycotting illusion mesh.

THE GOOD: This is altogether a pared down look for X Factor star Cher Lloyd (who's looking more and more like a young Cheryl Cole by the minute). The top is by Amen, the shorts Theory, and while dark green shoes are an odd choice for an otherwise black ensemble, I'd say overall this is a win.

THE MIXED: I think we're veering into the jacket OR the shorts territory here. I find Chloe Moretz so naturally stylish and effortless that she can pull off almost anything, but I think in 10 or so years she'll look back on this Valentino ensemble and say 'Remember the time I dressed up like a Christmas-themed matador with a 'censor bar' covering my chest?!'.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE MIXED: Hailee Steinfeld is another teen actress that I absolutely adore the P.S. (personal style) of, but I really want to liberate her from this tiered Elie Saab action. She and her amazing power brows are so close to pulling it off, but overall it lands in the realm of Bo-Peep-meets-Wild-West-meets-dusty-antique-doll-in-your-nana's-house.

THE GREAT: Si, muy bien. I love this Elie Saab mini on Jennifer Lopez (and that orange lippie is just divine on her). She's 45 and can pull off a micro-mini better than most tweens: slow clap. But the absolute highlight of this ensemble? Those Ermanno Scervino sandals. Perfection.

THE WEIRD: Dear Kendall Jenner, your pants appear to be rotting. Here's that pesky mesh just ruining the party yet again. On the one hand, young Kendall looks statuesque, fashion-forward and modern in this Oriett Domenech outfit (I particularly love the cowl neck) ... but on the other, the odd mesh pattern is a bit distracting, and that slicked back hair is just too much (it looks like someone's poured milk all over her head and she's had to slick it all back to avoid sniffing sour dairy all evening). Thoughts?

THE FINE: Here's Kim K looking totally passable in Balmain - I think she looks best when she chooses one of her assets to play up, which she's done here ... but, I can't help but find the tiny too-low bikini in her zebra print skirt a bit distracting. It's drawing the eye to weird places.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE GOOD: Here's Kylie Jenner looking fresh, stylish and not-at-all-in-wardrobe-malfunction-territory in a look by Aussie designers Sass & Bide. I'm pleasantly surprised Momager. Kris must've been out at Starbucks picking up beans for the family's coffee enemas when she chose her escandalo-free outfit.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE OVERCOOKED: Here's Lea Michele in a totally fine Fausto Puglisi dress that falls down because of bad styling. I'm getting 'evening-wear-at-a-bodybuilding-women's-pageant' vibes here. Or perhaps, 'reformed-exotic-dancer-who-now-sings-on-a-giant-cruise-ship'. Not that these are terrible things, just not the direction young Lea should be moving in.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE BAD: Speaking of crop tops, here's an example of how not to. This black bar on Finder actress Maddie Hasson stops at exactly the wrong point ... it either needs to be quite a bit shorter, or just turn itself into a dress. But the thing that transforms this from mildly unflattering to terrible is that leather tube around her neck. Eye makeup, however, is a total A+.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE WOWZA: Speaking of female bodybuilders, So You Think You Can Dance judge Mary Murphy seems to be taking tango-tan tips from the best of them ... this, combined with her newly-bleached hair and her choice of multiple neons mean she's really channeling Magda in There's Something About Mary (who's a style icon if there ever was one).
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE GREAT: Nina Dobrev in Vionnet: I love the painterly, directional vibe of this short-top ensemble. It's also very event-appropriate. She can definitely pull it off. And that braid is just wonderful. She's becoming a total red carpet pro.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE GOOD: Here's Modern Family star Sarah Hyland looking all sleek and shimmery in Marc Jacobs. I love the choice of black and brown diamond Lorrain Schwartz jewels, and dig seeing her in something that isn't twee. Stunner.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE GREAT: I think this might be my favourite look on Selena Gomez to date. This black Saint Laurent jumpsuit is the right choice for her: with her baby face anything too twee makes her look like a moving doll; but anything too sexy looks a touch jarring. This is stylish, sophisticated, timeless and a win. Love the gold accessories too.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE MEH: I have nothing but love for outspoken, smart, opinionated young actress Shailene Woodley ... but I do think this is just a miss. A) That neckline doesn't work on many, if any people. Overall, waist up, I'm getting Soviet gymnast team vibes. B) The blue dots running down the top of this Peter Pilotto dress are actually tiny creepy FACES. Tumeke for me. C) I miss her long hair. That is all.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE GOOD: Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell has made the perfect beauty decision here. Choosing dark lips and nails and an undone-hairdo keeps this Misha lace bustier and pencil skirt from looking too bridal or too boring. Love it.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE GOOD: I'm not totally sold on this Novis look on Taylor Swift, perhaps due to skirt proportions and in-between hair length issues, but I love the colour and the fabric and she still looks super cute (as she so often does) ... so I'm placing this in the 'win' camp.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE NOT QUITE: If the holes in your crochet dress are too wide, it starts to look like functional netting rather than a cute outfit, which I think is what happening with this Rebecca Minkoff dress on Victoria Justice.
Best & Worst: Teen Choice Awards
THE MIXED: Zendaya Coleman wore two outfits in one night, and they quite sincerely could not be more different. To the left we have a hunched-uneven-shoulder illusion swampy thing by Emanuel Ungaro (styled with a-touch-too-much Nicholas Kirkwood lace boots) that she still manages to look comfortable and cute in. And to the right we have a Paris Hilton-style-dress by Material Girl that she manages to look less Malibu Barbie and more sleek star. Which do you prefer?

The Kardashians came out in force, Swift, Gomez and Lopez score style wins while others just look overcooked.
