The world of tomorrow will probably be a very different place from what we know today, and so will our job descriptions.

Popular Science magazine peers into the crystal ball in this month's issue and comes up with the 10 best jobs of the future:

1. Human robot interaction specialist

Job description: Helping humans and robots to interact, work together, understand each other and basically get along.

2. Space pilot

Job description: Commercial space pilot flying the shuttles that will take tourists to the stars.

3. Foetus healer

Job description: Operating on foetuses in utero to fix abnormal placentas, correct spina bifida and perform stem cell and genetic therapies.

4. Forecaster. Of everything.

Job description: Perform statistical analysis of the growing barrage of online data.

5. Organ designer

Job description: Bio-engineering body parts for an ageing population faced with a shortage of donor organs.

6. Animal migration engineer

Job description: Create new habitats for endangered species as their natural habitats disappear.

7. World watcher

Job description: Operate multispectral satellites to spot buried ancient cities and how weather, population and ground cover helps spread disease.

8. Galactic architect

Job description: Design buildings and vehicles that can keep people alive and withstand the extreme conditions on asteroids and other planets.

9. Fusion worker

Job description: Fusion-related jobs such as diagnostic physicist and magnet auxiliary officer.

10. Thought hacker

Job description: Operate mind-reading technology and brain-computer interfaces to scan thoughts, memories and dreams.
