LUCY CORRY AND NYREE MCFARLANE
SHISEIDO FOUNDATION BRUSH, $60: Still not convinced by the magic of foundation brushes? Then this gorgeous, silky-soft one will convert you. It blends liquid or cream foundation with ease and you can use it with loose or pressed powder too. A definite investment worth making (plus, you use less product, thus saving money in the long run. We like that.)
MUM'S SECRET, $14.90 for 50ml: Remember how your mum used to be able to make everything all better? This is her, in soothing moisturiser form. You can put this on pimples, nappy rash, itchy bites, cracked heels, dry skin, the lot - and it really works. Available from pharmacies nationwide or at mumssecret.co.nz
EARTH 174 SKINCLEAR FACIAL MOISTURISER, $44.95: This all-natural, Wellington-based brand makes a range of products, but this might just be our favourite. It doesn't feel too thick or oily on the skin, while mamaku extract and 16+ manuka honey provide antibacterial and anti-inflammatory support for those prone to spots, and lavender lends a lovely scent (because sometimes we just want our creams to smell pretty).
ELIZABETH ARDEN BEAUTIFUL COLOR LUMINOUS LIP GLOSS, $48: Want Angelina-worthy lips? This non-sticky, super shiny, lip-plumping gloss smells like coconut and vanilla and comes in 14 shades and three different finishes (high shine, pearl and high shimmer). Best of all, there's a mirror on the tube. Genius.
BENEFIT THE POREFESSIONAL, $47 (duty free price): Blessed with combination skin? By 3pm does your forehead look like you've been operating a chip fryer all day? Then this pore-minimising primer is for you. Dab (don't rub!) a tiny bit on all your prone-to-be-slick spots for a shine-free face all day. It is expensive, so we say just use it on your trouble spots. Available from Duty Free at Auckland International Airport and Smith & Caughey.
