Award-winning Invercargill kitchen designer Lloyd Richardson keeps up with the latest trends and tries to keep one step ahead.
Lloyds Joinery owner Mr Richardson won the southern regional award at the National Kitchen and Bathroom Association awards in Christchurch at the weekend for his white and stainless steel kitchen in Lower Shotover Rd in Queenstown.
The awards were held in Christchurch on Saturday night.
Lloyds Joinery, situated in Invercargill, designs and manufactures kitchens from mainly Invercargill to Queenstown and surrounding districts.
Mr Richardson has designed thousands of kitchens in his 24-year career, but chose to enter the Queenstown kitchen because of the challenges and unique corian island.
Some of the challenges included trying to make the built-in and free-standing appliances integrate and there was a lot of trial and error when it came to the corian island, he said.
Originality and keeping one step ahead of what was current kept Mr Richardson focused on projects..
"Design is about trying to so something original; keeping up with the trends."
It was also critical it worked for the client, he said.
