Candice Courtney and Shauna Browne may be the first gay couple to marry in Queenstown.
They were wed on The Remarkables range on Sunday.
The Brisbane couple have been together for seven years and say Queenstown is their favourite holiday destination.
"We knew the beautiful scenery would be the perfect backdrop for our wedding," they said.
They have campaigned for marriage equality in Australia and decided to get married in Queenstown as soon as they heard it would be legal.
New Zealand's marriage equality bill became law 10 days ago.
Celebrant Phillipa Cook is set for more gay weddings during Gay Ski Week, but warns three working days are needed before nuptial knots can be tied.
