Best & worst dressed celebrities
THE BAD: I have but just one question. How on earth does Cassie Howarth even sit down in this gladiator bodice-that-wraps-over-your-bum Khalil gown? Her hair and makeup is beautiful, as is she, but I think we can all agree this is less evening approp', and more Marvel Avengers.
THE BAD: We've all had jeans tear, and we've all used questionable means to get them back together, but Eliza Doolittle's denim virus of a dress takes it too far. The safety pin arms are one thing, but the nipple frays are quite another: distressed denim is meant to look 'earned', and how would you even achieve said chest rips? Rub your ladies up and down against a really thick carpet for hours on end? Get out a cheese grater and just hope your areola doesn't get caught? No thanks, ouchies!
THE BAD: I wonder if Martha has this Surbhi Gupta couture gown? Because it sure is just as shiny and about as flattering as her gold capris. Kainaat Arora also wins most unnecessary height in an updo this week - seriously, her hair is standing about eight inches away from her scalp.
THE BAD: Sassy Ms Martha Stewart's worn these pants before (<a href="http://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/fashion/8654094/The-weeks-best-worst-dressed-May-10" target="_blank">here they are at picture number 9</a>) and they're just as delightfully terrible a second time 'round. I'm also loving how she's channelling about 29 shades of gold at once. I guess after you've done jail time you take every day in which you can strap on pants crafted entirely from sequins as a day to celebrate and just 'do'.
THE BAD: Just like the Duchess of Our Hearts, Perfect Teeth & Amazing Calves, the bashful flower that is Susie Elelman likes to recycle demure designer gowns. The Aussie personality wore this dress back in 1995 - <a href="http://resources3.news.com.au/images/2014/04/28/1226898/067739-fd36a684-ce65-11e3-8e96-6a6704b39a47.jpg" target="_blank">here she is in it.</a> Quite frankly, I'm just interested in the mechanics here. What kind of bra or corset has the vice like grip to create this gloriously immovable chest bum?
THE BAD: Shakira, Shakiraaaaa ... lucky that my breasts are small and humble so you don't confuse them with ... my hat.
THE GOOD: A) Ashley Madekwe looks good in basically everything. B) She looks amazing in this Lanvin combo. C) Navy and forest green are an underrated combo.
THE GOOD: Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone wore this stunning Zuhair Murad gown to the IIFA Awards (which is like the Indian Oscars) and while I think she'd have shone all the brighter if she'd worn a slightly redder, less purple lippie, let's not nit pick and just allow ourselves to bask in a moment of lacy elegance while we can (because, warning, there are some shockers ahoy).
THE GOOD: Once, twice, three times a lady - I do not want the Spideman press blast to end as Emma Stone is just so dang delightful (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLBSoC_2IY8" target="_blank">did you SEE her lip-sync battle?</a> Imagine going to your local dodgy Korean karaoke joint and enjoying a few luminous blue bevvies with her? Too much fun). Here she is looking all quirky and elegant in equal measure in, from left to right, Valentino, Gucci and Prada (that's quite a designer Rolodex she has there).
THE GOOD: Kylie Minogue in soft pink embellished Roberto Cavalli, it can't really go wrong can it? I think this look would be boring if it weren't for how detailed and stunning the embellishments are when you take a closer squizz. Oh, and it's amazing for the fact that she's forty-freaking-five and has never looked better.
THE GOOD: Uzo 'Crazy Eyes' Aduba - you have to be an OITNB fan to realise that I'm not being mean in saying that - looks so beautiful in this blue dress. The combo of blues is stunning, the embroidery is amazing and it fits her just right.
THE GOOD: I'm fairly sure if more of us wore lemon yellow the world would be a happier place. Here is the delightful Felicity Jones looking fresh-and-yet-retro in Miu Miu. It's no secret that I love dresses with pockets ... but dresses with crystal pockets?! That's next level.
THE GOOD: Olivia Munn looks super slick in this brown-and-burgundy Lanvin mini - I'm especially loving her high pony. The shape of the dress- high necked, tight and short - would look bad on many, but then Ms Munn's clearly not mortal and so she makes it work.
This week in the world of A-list red carpet fashion, Bollywood stars shine - we love you Deepika Padukone, Aussie stars shock and Emma Stone? Well, she's just amazing.
We only bring you the horrors and the hits from the red carpets and only cover events where celebrities know they'll be snapped and critiqued for their fashion (so no Britney leaving Maccas in her trackies.) Why? Well because all humans - even celebs - should be allowed to look rubbish while packing a Quarter Pounder.
