At the request of Thomas Wilde, an eight-year-old reader, here they are:

BUGATTI VEYRON SUPER SPORT

Capable of 430 kmh and reaching our legal speed limit in 2.5 seconds, this W16 quadruple turbocharged 8-litre car makes 883kW (1200hp) and is rather expensive, at about $3 million. The slower base car is just $2 million but only has 750kW.

HENESSEY VENOM GT

As quick off the mark as the Bugatti, the Venom is all puffed out at a mere 417 kmh, despite having the same amount of power on tap as the Veyron, from a much-modifed 6.2-litre Chevrolet LS9 V8 Twin Turbo V8 engine. A snip at $1.2 million.

KOENIGSEGG AGERA R

It at one time it was the lap record holder for Top Gear, and it runs the Bugatti and the Hennessey close with 880kW from a 5.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine. It has a top speed of 415 kmh, while it probably out handles either of them, costing $2 million.

SSC ULTIMATE AERO

Another twin-turbo V8, the Aero does 413 kmh and is a hair slower to 100 kmh than the others, but with a base price of about $800,00 there's budget left for increasing its standard 875kW. New models from SSC are promised to be even quicker.

9FF GT9-R

It looks a little like a Porsche 911, but it's no ordinary one, with 859-plus kW and 410 kmh flat-out reaching ''sorry officer'' in 2.9 secs. A little over $825,000 and looking like this, it's probably the Q-car among here and the one we'd probably have.
