New Zealand-born fashion designer Collette Dinnigan is pregnant with her second child.

The 46-year-old has announced that she is four and a half months pregnant with her new husband Bradley Cocks, whom she married last year.

Dinnigan already has a seven-year-old daughter with her former husband Richard Wilkins.

She has always made public that she yearned for a sibling for Estella, and has beaten the odds by conceiving naturally.

As she told News Ltd newspapers: "We are absolutely thrilled, our whole family is very happy. Estella is beside herself and we are just looking forward to the baby arriving."

While Dinnigan says she conceived naturally, the designer warned women against waiting too long.

''I think people see so many Hollywood stars out there having babies in their 40s. It's a message that I think women need to understand it's very difficult to have a baby in your 40s,'' she said.

''You really need to start a lot earlier if you want to start a family and I think there are a lot of misconceptions that it's easy to have a career and then start a family at 40.''

It is unsure whether Dinnigan will still show her collection in Paris later this year.
