A smoking plate of toasty cheese rolls forced the Invercargill fire brigade into action yesterday.

Two fire engines rushed to Esk St when a birthday treat for a staff member at Enterprise Recruitment got too hot to handle.

The office smoke alarms forced an evacuation at the recruitment agency and at Starbucks below.

Fire crews made sure it was safe for everyone to return to work and get back to the cheese rolls and coffee.
