Man struck by car near Gore
A 19-year-old man is in Dunedin Hospital after being hit by a vehicle on the Waimea Highway near Gore last night.
Senior sergeant Matt Scoles of the Dunedin Police said emergency services were at the scene, on the Waimea Highway, State Highway 94, six kilometres north of Gore, about 8:40pm.
"A 19-year-old male suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle and was flown by helicopter to Dunedin Hospital.
"State Highway 94 was closed for a short time while emergency services staff dealt with the crash scene; however, it has since been reopened."
Scoles said police enquiries into the cause of the crash were continuing. A number of witnesses were assisting.
