Southern Heritage Trust founder Ann Barsby has been honoured with a Queens Service Medal for her services to heritage preservation.
Barsby was instrumental in setting up the trust, which strives to preserve all aspects of Otago's heritage, and continues to be a driving force behind its success.
She was responsible for reviving the Dunedin Gasworks Museum Trust in 2006, and in 2009 helped garner community support to prevent the dissolution of the Dunedin Burns Club.
