Pedestrian struck by taxi van
A 36-year-old man is in intensive care after being struck by a taxi van in Dunedin this morning.
Dunedin police said the serious crash happened about 1am on Great King St North, near the intersection of Howe St.
Southern District Command Centre senior sergeant Dave Scott said he understood the man, who lives in Queenstown, suffered a serious head injury in the crash.
Police were working with the taxi driver and had spoken to several people at the scene.
The serious crash unit was working to piece together what happened, he said.
Police called for witnesses to contact Dunedin police on 03 471 4800.
Several members of the public had already come forward, Scott said.
