Man grew cannabis in underground garage

An Invercargill man with a sophisticated commercial cannabis operation found in an underground garage was convicted in the Invercargill District Court today.

Matthew Shaun Burgess, carpet layer, 33, was remanded to August 29 for sentence for possession of cannabis for sale and cultivation on June 3.

Police prosector Sergeant Kathy Pomfrett said some of the cannabis found had a street value of $1400, others of more than $8000 and $30,000 in cash was also found on the property.
