The New Zealand Open golf tournament and Queenstown Winter Festival will benefit from hefty council grants next year.

The Queenstown Lakes District Council approved a round of event grants, including a $100,000 cash injection for golf at Sir Michael Hill's course in Arrowtown and $75,000 for the festival.

The grant round also featured $40,000 for Challenge Wanaka, $28,500 for the Blues and Roots music festival and $25,626 for Queenstown Bike Festival.
