Fishing programme host for boat show
A female fishing show host cannot wait to share fishing tales with like-minded Southlanders.
ADOS Addicted to Fishing host Nicky Sinden will be in Invercargill for the Boat Show Southland next month.
The 21st show, run by the Southland Trailer Yacht Squadron, is being held on August 9-10 after a five-year gap. The show was held at Stadium Southland, but put on hold after the building's collapse.
Sinden will be on the Stabicraft stand, ready to talk with Southland fishermen about her experiences and show.
The first season of the show was aired on Prime TV this year. Sinden planned to film in Southland this year, and hoped to meet some Southland contacts, she said.
The keen angler had been fishing since she could hold a handline at the age of two or three and looked forward to heading south to catch large blue cod.
Boat Show Southland manager Peter Dawson said the boat show had grown substantially since its first event in the Centennial Hall in 1993, with thousands expected through the doors.
The exhibitors, from throughout New Zealand, will include boat dealers and manufacturers and other companies related to water sport.
Riverton and Bluff coastguards, maritime safety, fisheries and other clubs would also be on site.
One of the exhibitors was Image Boats and Pleasure & Marine.
Image Boats office manager Jacqui Gilbertson said the companies, which manufactured aluminium custom boats from 5.8m-11m both commercial and recreational, planned to exhibit a range of customised boats and Pleasure & Marine would be selling a variety of marine equipment.
