Phone books designed with Alexandra basin's readers in mind are still available.
The Alexandra Lions Club set up stalls around the town selling 1500 phone books as part of its annual fundraising drive for the community.
President John Feron thanked the community for purchasing about 700 books on the day.
"One of the reasons for doing it - as well as raising money - is the size of the current phone book. Most of our population can't read it."
The phone book had large print and local information, he said.
"We get a brilliant response. The uptake is great. We got a great response to our street day and we would like to thank the public for supporting the Lions."
Club member Allan McDonnell said funds raised by the club included repairing and maintain Alexandra's clock and helped support youth in the community.
Phone books are still available for $6 from Alexandra Paper Plus, BNZ, Clyde and Omakau Four Squares and Betta Electrical.
