Queenstown resident Jason Jobsis has been named as the Clutha Southland candidate for the Democrats for Social Credit Party.

Raised in South Taranaki, Jobsis said he believed he had a good understanding of small town and farm life and good knowledge of economics and politics.

"I believe my experience of small town/farm life and knowledge of economics and politics combined with an onsite/hands on approach will benefit the Clutha Southland region greatly in moving forwards after decades of neglect by successive governments," he said.

He would focus on investment in regional development to support growth in the tourism, farming and industry sectors and ensuring access to health care services and affordable housing.
