The opportunity to create some tasty treats to eat led to eight students from across Northern Southland gathering to learn some of the finer culinary skills last Friday.
Cooking for Kids, for those aged 10 to 13 years old, was taught by Southern REAP tutor Angela Richardson at Northern Southland College.
It meant a fun day of learning various cooking and baking methods involving good hygiene practices and practising safety in the kitchen. The day ended with lots of recipe options to take home to try as well as samples of dishes created including flour tortillas, sushi, spaghetti carbonara and sweet apple quesadillas.
The day followed on from similar courses in Winton and Otautau.
"Students enjoyed making and eating the variety of dishes which no doubt will be made at home for the whole family to try after their day of learning," Richardson said.
