A mother and her young child escaped uninjured when the woman's SUV plunged down a bank in Queenstown yesterday.
She crashed her Honda travelling towards Queenstown in Frankton Rd, drove over a kerb opposite Perkins Rd, down a bank, across a track and into a tree at the edge of Lake Wakatipu.
Sergeant Tracy Haggart, of Queenstown, said the 31-year-old driver from the United Kingdom and her 2-year-old daughter were in the vehicle.
"It appears she had a bit of a dizzy turn, tried to pull over to the left and lost control and veered down the bank."
They were not injured but were taken to Lakes District Hospital as a precaution as the woman was suffering from shock. Police were continuing to investigate, she said.
Meanwhile, at 8.30am on Tuesday, a 41-year-old Arrowtown man hit black ice on Malaghans Rd, crashed into a bank and the car flipped. He was uninjured.
