Searchers find body in Blue Lake

A body believed to be Mark Naylor has been found in a Central Otago lake.

Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk said members of the police national dive squad recovered the body late this morning from the Blue Lake at St Bathans.

The body is believed to be that of missing Earnscleugh man 32-year-old Mark George Naylor.

Family members were present during this time and were being supported by Victim Support, he said.

"It is a sad time, particularly for the family, but also for all those involved in the search for Mark. While not the desired outcome, we are pleased to have found him and to provide some closure for the family."

Police also wanted to take the opportunity to thank members of the public who provided information and otherwise assisted police during the search over recent days.

The matter will be referred to the Coroner.
