Southern Institute of Technology student Johny Johnson couldn't keep his seat on the Waikiwi Tavern mechanical bull during his wild ride on the last day of SIT Re-Orientation Week yesterday.

The week celebrates students' return to classes for semester two. Students had the chance to ride Brutus the bull, sumo wrestle, enjoy a free barbecue and listen to music by the Bachelor of Music bands.

There were free giveaways, including movie tickets to students who could stay on the bull.

The Red Frogs, a volunteer group which supports students, were there making sure students were safe and even popped in to some flats during the week to make pancakes.
