BOP mascot Hori hunts southern delicacies
Bay of Plenty rugby mascot Hori BOP is searching for a Jimmy's Pie and a cheese roll now that he's made it to Invercargill.
Hori, the alter-ego of Tauranga resident Terry Leaming has been hitch-hiking to Invercargill since Wednesday and made it to town at 9pm last night.
''The Stags are in trouble,'' Leaming said.
Tonight's game was going to go to the Bay of Plenty side by 20 points, he said.
Earlier today Leaming was searching for a Jimmy's Pie and a cheese roll when he ran into Tauranga resident Brendan Horan, who is in the city for the Fight for Kidz tomorrow night.
Leaming had booked an extra night accommodation in Invercargill to put his ''180kg frame'' behind supporting Horan in his charity fight, he said.
Hori BOP will be at the Southland Stags v Bay of Plenty Steamers game at Rugby Park Stadium at 7.35pm tonight.
''Tell Tim Shadbolt I want one of those deep fried cheese rolls couriered down from Gore,'' Leaming said.
