Cromwell police are seeking witnesses to a dog attack in Old Cromwell Town.

Sergeant Simon Paget said a 9-year-old boy was chased by two dogs and bitten about 3pm on August 8.

Despite the incident being brought to the female owner's attention, she left the scene, he said. The boy, who was an Australian tourist, was treated at the Cromwell Medical Centre for grazing and bruising to his leg.

"Police would be keen to speak to any witnesses who saw the incident, or saw a well-dressed female leaving with the two dogs in a silver-coloured Toyota Land Cruiser."

People should contact Senior Constable Phil Beckwith on (03) 445 1999.
