A teenager has been charged in relation to the theft and arson of a car taken from the Edendale-Woodlands Highway.
Invercargill police executed four search warrants within the Invercargill and Edendale areas yesterday.
Detective Regan Fahey, of Invercargill, said the search was in relation to three vehicles stolen on June 26. One of the vehicles was destroyed by fire, Fahey said.
Police interviewed a 17-year-old youth and charged him with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle and arson, and further charges were likely, Fahey said.
The teen has been referred to the Police Youth Aid Section.
Charges are also pending against a 21-year-old man.
Police wanted to thank the members of the public who helped with the investigation and reminded people living in rural areas to ensure all vehicles were locked, Fahey said.
