Stomping gets victim on police charge list

A man who was allegedly stomped on in a Queenstown alleyway has been charged with an earlier assault during the late-night dust-up.

Senior Constable Chris Blackford, of Queenstown, said police had charged a man with assault after the incident in Cow Ln on August 18.

The man charged with assault was also the victim of an alleged head-stomping by a 27-year-old British man, who has been charged with assault with intent to injure. The Englishman allegedly twice stomped on the victim's head using his right foot.

Police said the fight started in Camp St outside McDonalds, where the alleged head-stomping victim was punched. The local man allegedly punched another man in Cow Ln before the alleged head-stomping.
